A soothing, skin-friendly treat your dog will love – especially on hot summer days.

If your dog suffers from dry skin, allergies or seasonal itching, these cool and calming frozen bites can offer gentle relief. Blended with just five skin-nourishing ingredients, they’re naturally anti-inflammatory, soothing and refreshing – and best of all, they taste amazing.

This no-fuss recipe takes only minutes to make and freezes into a creamy treat perfect for hot afternoons, post-walk rewards or as a soothing snack.

How do these five ingredients help itchy dogs?

Each ingredient in this Five-Ingredient Frozen Itch-Relief Dog Treat recipe has been chosen to naturally support your dog’s skin health and ease the symptoms of itching or irritation. These are:

Apple (with skin)

Full of natural antioxidants, fibre and quercetin – a plant compound shown to act like a natural antihistamine in dogs with allergies.

Chia seeds

A plant-based source of omega-3 fatty acids to help reduce inflammation and nourish skin and coat from within.

Goat’s milk

Easier to digest than cow’s milk, goat’s milk is packed with natural probiotics, which can help soothe gut-driven skin sensitivities.

Coconut oil

Offers a moisturising boost from the inside out, with lauric acid to support immunity and help reduce skin irritation.

Honey

Especially raw or local honey may help desensitise dogs to seasonal allergens, while its antimicrobial properties support general skin health.

Ingredients You'll Need

  • ½ an apple (keep the skin on but remove the core and seeds)
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds (soaked in water for 10 minutes)
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil (melted)
  • 1 teaspoon raw honey
  • 1 cup goat’s milk

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1 – Soak the chia seeds
Place the chia seeds in a small bowl and add enough water to cover. Let them soak for 10 minutes until they form a gel-like consistency.

Step 2 – Blend
Core and chop the apple and place it in a blender along with the soaked chia seeds, melted coconut oil, goat’s milk and honey. Blend until smooth.

Step 3 – Pour and freeze
Spoon the mixture into silicone moulds or an ice cube tray. Freeze for at least 4–6 hours, or overnight, until completely set.

Step 4 – Serve and enjoy

Pop one out and let your dog lick, chew or crunch their way to itch relief

Give your dog one or two a day as a healthy snack.

When to Use the Frozen Itch-Relief Dog Treats

These frozen bites are especially helpful:

  • After a walk through pollen-heavy areas like long grass or meadows
  • When your dog seems uncomfortable due to seasonal allergies
  • As a midday summer snack to help cool itchy skin and hydrate
  • Alongside grooming and bathing for a multi-step skin-soothing routine

They’re not a substitute for medical advice, but they can be a valuable tool in managing everyday itching.

A Natural Boost for Skin and Coat Health

Itchy skin can often be a symptom of something deeper – like poor digestion, low-grade inflammation or sensitivities to certain ingredients. That’s why supporting your dog’s skin starts with what’s in their bowl.

A diet rich in omega-3s, antioxidants, probiotics and lean protein can make a big difference to the way your dog looks and feels. These treats are a fun supplement, but long-term improvements usually come from a full nutrition system.
